Project Name: Palani Andawar Cotton Mills

Location: Coimbatore

Area:146000 sq. ft

Category: Commercial

Design Team: Ar. Jagadeep and Ar. Archana

Year of Completion: 2026

The redevelopment of Palani Andawar Cotton Mills in Udumalaipet transforms a once-thriving industrial landmark into a vibrant destination for commerce, dining, and leisure. Rooted in the spirit of adaptive reuse, the project preserves the historic mill’s essence while introducing a fresh architectural identity suited to modern urban lifestyles.

Planned as a single-level, horizontally spread development, the design promotes seamless circulation and easy accessibility for visitors of all ages. The master plan organizes the space into three primary zones. The first houses a supermarket that offers everyday essentials. The second features a food court with diverse dining options arranged around open communal seating. The third includes a multiplex that provides a premium entertainment experience. Landscaped courtyards, shaded walkways, and public seating interconnect these zones, encouraging social interaction and creating a campus-like ambience.

The design thoughtfully integrates heritage elements from the original mill, celebrating its industrial legacy while enhancing contemporary appeal. With a people-centric layout, ample parking, and inclusive accessibility, the project revitalizes a historic property and establishes a new urban anchor for Udumalaipet. Ultimately, it fosters economic growth, strengthens community engagement, and continues the town’s cultural narrative.
